It is one of the strangest and most potent spices in South-East Asia and should be part of every good kitchen. In the Ayurvedic diet, this spice replaces onion and garlic. It is mainly used together with ginger, cardamom and rock salt. It comes in powder or paste form. Mixed with fenugreek.

In India, asafetida is widely used. It is an essential food ingredient and dishes that are more difficult to digest, such as pulses or potatoes, should always be prepared with it. Asafetida tastes spicy and hot, increases appetite, ignites the digestive fire, tonicity, and its use in food prevents the accumulation of gas in the intestines, i.e. flatulence, and facilitates digestion.

Fenugreek is a widespread and important spice in Asia. According to Ayurveda, fenugreek increases 'Agni' in addition to 'Pitta' and stimulates the fire/water element.
