Rudraksha
Rudraksha is a divine gift from Lord Shiva for the benefit of humanity. Rudraksha means tears of 'Rudra' (Lord Shiva) and is considered a sacred seed with mystical powers. For thousands of years, people have been using Rudraksha beads for spiritual, material and medicinal benefits. It is believed that whoever wears Rudraksha is protected from any negative effects. The natural properties of the sacred Rudraksha beads have been found to improve concentration, focus and mental stamina. According to Ayurvedic scriptures, wearing Rudraksha can have a positive effect on the heart and nerves, and can help reduce stress, depression, anxiety, heart palpitations and high blood pressure. This is a blessing for spiritual seekers, as wearing Rudraksha can help them to achieve their goals more quickly, and the effects of chanting the mantras will be much more effective.
Mala
The necklace of beads is mainly used for counting the mantras. So it actually serves the same purpose as the rosary. Beads made of (semi-) precious stones, pearls, bodhi seeds or wood can serve a variety of purposes, such as counting any number of mantras or other forms of prayer, bows, walks, etc. The necklace is the same for each mala and should be made of nine threads representing Buddha Vajradhara and the eight Bodhisattvas. The larger bead at the end represents the wisdom that perceives emptiness, and the cylindrical bead on the large bead represents emptiness itself. Together they symbolise victory over all adversity.
Why 108?
There are 108 beads in Malas because this number has great scientific significance in Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The circumference of the Sun multiplied by 108 is the distance between the Sun and the Earth, and the same applies to the Moon and the Earth. In addition, there are 108 nadis or energy channels in the body. There are 54 Sanskrit letters, both masculine and feminine, for a total of 108. There are 108 Puranas and 108 Upanishads. The list goes on and on!!! So the same sacred number is used in Malas.
