Copal comes from the Aztec Nahuatl word (Copalli) and refers to the various resins extracted from the Bursera family of trees. Thousands of years ago, copal was considered a sacred resin by the Mayans and Aztecs of Mexico and Central America. The Maya offered copal to the gods as one of the most precious things along with tobacco and cocoa. Today, copal is still used in shamanic ceremonies for energy protection, sacrifice, cleansing and purification. It is an excellent incense for bringing about positive change. Copal has a rich, sweet grape scent that brings peace and harmony.

Incense instructions:

1) Light the very tip of the incense stick or cone. Please note that only the very tip of the incense stick should be lit. If you burn too much, the larger part of the incense may blacken and you may get a charred aroma (this is not the real smell of incense). If the incense or cone has caught fire, blow out the flame and let it smoke.

2) The incense stick will begin to smoke and the tip will be red because it is constantly burning. Do not blow, the natural process is enough.

3) Place the incense stick or cone in the incense burner. There are many types of holders to choose from. We have them in our e-shop too.

4) Make sure the incense is at least two metres away from you and the room is well ventilated. Do not breathe the smoke directly.

5) Enjoy the scent of your choice. The sticks will burn for about 20-50 minutes (depending on the length), but if you want a light scent in the room or have a small room, you can extinguish the incense before it runs out.
